Nokia’s Mobile Division Getting Purchased by Microsoft? Nokia Denies Rumors

January 5, 2012 No Comments

Here we go again…

Eldar Murtazin, master of the Nokia rumor mill is at it again. Only a few days till the CES show in las vegas and he is stating via twitter that top Microsoft and Nokia officials will meet up at Las Vegas to finalize an agreement for Nokia’s Mobile division.

Steve Balmer, Andy Lees and Stephen Elop, Kai Ostamo [sic] will meet in Las Vegas to finalize agreement about Nokia smartphone unit. Bye Nokia”  -Eldar Murtazin

This isn’t the first time these rumors are floating around and it isn’t the first time Eldar Murtazin is the one leading the charge. Will we see Microsoft purchase Nokia? Most likely not although we have seen crazier things happen. I was very excited to see both companies partner up last year but I don’t agree on Microsoft buying them out as it wouldn’t benefit anyone involved. Nokia is way too important to Microsoft in the position they are at right now.

So no… I do not believe this will be happening anytime soon, especially not during CES.

Nokia even stepped in shortly after stating the following:

“We’ve put these rumours to rest a long time ago. The focus for Nokia is on executing on our partnership around Windows Phone and growing the ecosystem, and each company has the tools they need to do so”

I doubt operation ‘rolling thunder’ had anything to do with a buyout. Besides, does anyone remember when Eldar said that Samsung was buying Nokia?
