Windows Phone Beats Out Blackberry World – Marketplace Now 4th Largest in Games

December 21, 2011 No Comments

With the year closing in on us, Distimo has released its number for the year and kind of summarized the mobile world of apps. An interesting find was that the Windows Phone marketplace has surpassed Blackberry world and now is that 4th largest virtual store for applications.

Windows Phone 7 Marketplace has shown impressive growth in terms of the number of available games. Launched in a limited number of countries in November 2010, it has since surpassed both the Nokia Ovi Store and BlackBerry App World in the number of available games. The Windows Phone 7 Marketplace is now the fourth largest platform for mobile games.

The Windows Phone developer community has been one of the most excited and committed group i’ve seen in a long time and I a positive the trend is going to continue through 2012 as well.
