ITC Initial Ruling: Motorola Infringes Microsoft patent

December 20, 2011 No Comments

Out of the numerous patents that Microsoft has claimed Motorola infringes on, 1 has passed initial ruling. The ITC today has announced that its initial ruling finds that Motorola infringes on four claims of Microsoft patent number 6,370,566, which deals with “generating meeting requests and group scheduling from a mobile device”. It might not turn into something too big since that can be easily corrected but it is still a small win for Microsoft.

Microsoft Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Brad Smith tweeted:

ITC finds Motorola #patent infringment in #Microsoft case. Another indication that licensing is the best path for the industry.

What do you guys think?
