Windows Phone SMS Attack Found – Disables Messaging Hub

December 13, 2011 No Comments

This is a bug that you would really hate to run into.

Windows Phone user Khaled Salameh has bumped into a specific SMS message that when received causes your Windows Phone to reboot then disables your messaging hub. This bug will activate even if you pin someone to your start screen and that someone posts the random text. So far the only way of getting back your messaging hub is to hard reset your device.

Hopefully the specific characters needed to accomplish this feat never fall into the wrong hands. Winrumors and Khaled Salameh are in the process of privately communicating the issue with Microsoft.
