Nokia Says Youths are Fed up with iPhone, Android a Sea of SamenessDecember 13, 2011 No Comments
Nokia is on the attack against the 2 top selling mobile operating systems (IOS & Android). In an interview with Pocket-lint, Niels Munksgaard, director of Portfolio, Product Marketing & Sales at Nokia Entertainment Global lets us all know what he thinks about Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android.
“What we see is that youth are pretty much fed up with iPhones. Everyone has the iPhone,” he said. “Also, many are not happy with the complexity of Android and the lack of security. So we do increasing see that the youth that wants to be on the cutting edge and try something new are turning to the Windows phone platform.”
“The marketplace is extremely crowded. I refer to it as the sea of sameness,” he added. “When you walk up to a retail shelf at Phones4U and see the number of black mono-blocks sitting on the shelf, it is very confusing to the consumer. We want to deliver services and phones that are different.”
It’s going to be tough turning the tide as Android and the iPhone dominate sales but things like customers waiting 8 hours on line for a Lumia 800 and the same phone gaining more than half the votes on UK Channel 5′s King of Mobiles poll, things look very promising.
Now with the impending launch of the Nokia Lumia 900 things are looking even sweeter.
