Windows Phone Backstage: Quick Rundown on What Happened (Pictures)

November 7, 2011 No Comments

Wp7Connect was present at the Microsoft Backstage event in New York. It was a small gathering of only a few Dozen writers and bloggers at the heart of the New Yorker Hotel in midtown which is only walking distance to the huge Windows Phone structure at Herald Square.

A quick announcement was made stating a few facts like Windows Phone having 35,000 apps in less than a year which beats out mobile ecosystems like Android and iPhone. Also mentioned was the fact that Spotify is on its way to Windows Phone any second now. Press was also showered with gift bags filled with either the new Samsung Focus S  and Samsung Focus Flash. I luckily walked out of their with a brand new Samsung Focus S.

We then all gathered outside while we waited for special Windows Phone Pedicabs to take us to Herald Square for the massive Windows Phone presentation.

The structure is 55 feet tall and feature live tiles from current popular Windows Phone apps like Plants vs Zombies. A live tile would open up and reveal things like a man proposing to his girlfriend, live accuweather to a live concert from the Far East Movement.

A band rocking out inside a phone has to be a first to say the least.

It was a fun filled day with Windows Phone and I hope some of you were lucky enough to witness some of the events.
