More Storage Space Coming To Skydrive (Unlimited Photos & Docs)

September 11, 2011 No Comments

To say that Microsoft has spent a lot of time and money on the cloud would be an understatement. They feel like that is where the future is headed and I totally agree with them. You can see the change already with services  like dropbox and the tons of online storage just like it.

Skydrive is not new and I have been using it for a long time. Even more so that it is integrated with my Windows Phone. A huge update is coming to Skydrive called ‘Skydrive Wave 5’ that will be taking it to other platforms as well like Android and IOS. Microsoft will also be launching a specific Skydrive app on Windows Phone to add more functionality.

With all these new devices being supported soon and Skydrive getting more and more use. Microsoft will be making more free space available on Skydrive. Skydrive Wave 5 will include the following setup:

  • Unlimited storage space for all Office documents
  • Unlimited storage space for all photos
  • 25 GB of free storage for everything else

It is still 25GB but now Office documents and pictures are pretty much not part of the equation and don’t get counted towards the 25GB. This is great news for Windows Phone users and apparently everyone else soon.
