The Transition to Mango and New WP7 Devices

September 9, 2011 1 Comment

By now we’ve heard many rumors surrounding the release date of Mango 7.5. Many of you have already taken the plunge and updated to the early developer build/almost official release build of Mango. I’m curious to know whether you plan on staying with your 1st generation Windows Phone or will you jump on a 2nd gen device as soon as they become available?

Maybe it’s too early to say, but I’m fairly certain 7.5 will run very smoothly on 1st gen hardware. With a 1GHz processor and 512mb of RAM these numbers aren’t anything to drool over. But lets face it, it’s all about the end-users experience and if Mango delivers a quality improvement in UI performance with its value added features…will you guys still drop some cash and upgrade to the latest devices? Seeing as the first batch of phones were released quite some time ago I know it’ll be very hard (for myself personally) to sit on my ever declining bank balance and hold off on a newly released beauty.

It’s definitely in our best interest to continue supporting new Windows Phone 7 devices. The platform can only benefit from an increased user base.

My veins are filled with geek curiosity right now so drop a comment below and share with us what your future Windows Phone 7 device plans are!
