Minesweeper Updated: Now With Less Mines

September 7, 2011 3 Comments

I thought I was alone when I first launched Microsoft’s free ad supported WP7 Xbox Live game Minesweeper and I was having a hard time winning and having fun for that matter. Well it looks like this has been taken care of as the app has gotten updated. You will not however receive the update as usual through the marketplace but through the game itself.  Check out the new info and directions on how to update below.

Classic mode

  • Intermediate:
Mines reduced from 36 to 24
Experience reward increased from 150 to 200
  • Advanced:
Mines reduced from 76 to 60
Experience increased from 250 to 300

Speed mode

  • Beginner:
Mines reduced from 15 to 12
Experience increased from 150 to 200
  • Intermediate:
Mines reduced from 40 to 24
Experience increased from 200 to 300
  • Advanced:
Experience increased from 300 to 400

“To update your game, launch the game while connected to the internet. You may need to load up the Leaderboards and/or restart the game for the changes to take effect. You’ll know it worked when the mines listed on the difficulty selection pages match the new values.” – wpcentral

App info:
Minesweeper, the classic puzzle game, is now available on the Windows Phone!  The goal is to clear random minefields using flags to safely mark potential mines. One wrong move will detonate the entire board. Sweep your way through Classic and Speed modes, each with as many as 4 different levels of difficulty. Play your way through and earn powerups to help you navigate the board and unlock achievements for your LIVE account.
