Microsoft Gives Kinect/Windows Phone Kinectimals Demo

August 23, 2011 No Comments

Exciting times are among us. Windows Phone will soon be updated soon and with that update will come new and better functions for consumers.

One of the newest things is the Kinect/Windows Phone connectivity. That is where you will be able to transfer information between the two devices. Kinectimals will be the first game that will offer this feature and Microsoft just so happened to demonstrate easily you can import/export you Kinectimals animal between devices yesterday at Gamefest in Seattle.

It’s going to be as simple as generating a QR code and scanning the code from your Kinect onto your phone or vice versa. Check out the video courtesy of GeekWire:

I do find it exciting that you will be able to transfer your Kinectimals pet between devices, I just wonder how much will that be used. Considering the fact that the typical player of Kinectimals is small children I have to wonder how often parents will be willing to fire up the Kinect just to transfer a pet to their phone for their child.

While being able to do this will add a lot more to the Windows Phone gaming experience, I don’t think it will make a major difference for most people.
