WP7 Xbox Live Games Removed From Marketplace Due to Licenses Being Expired

August 15, 2011 1 Comment

This morning we listed a few Xbox Live enabled Windows Phone games that have been removed from the marketplace. It turns out that they have been removed due to their respective licences expiring. Had nothing to do with Microsoft as the developers themselves asked them to remove it. That is just very unprofessional as these games are not even a year old. Not cool to launch a game on a system knowing that it will have to be removed later on. It is not such a big deal for new users but it does effect gamers that have purchased the game. What if they have to hard reset? Will they be able to re-download the game somehow?

The info came from Karl Stricker, the Senior Business Manager of Xbox Live. He tweeted earlier today that the “Fast & Furious, Star Wars: Cantina/Hoth were removed from the marketplace per request of the publishers as the game’s licenses had expired.”
