Nokia N9 Not Being Released in U.S.

August 10, 2011 No Comments

A sad, sad day for anyone who was excited about Nokia’s N9. It has been learned that the N9 will not be making its’ way to the US. After inquiring about the release of the N9, this was the response received by Engadget from Nokia:

“After the very positive reception to the launch of the Nokia N9, the product is now being rolled out in countries around the world. At this time we will not be making it available in the US. Nokia takes a market by market approach to product rollout, and each country makes its own decisions about which products to introduce from those available. Decisions are based on an assessment of existing and upcoming products that make up Nokia’s extensive product portfolio and the best way in which to address local market opportunities.”

It’s unfortunate that those who were looking forward to the N9 in the U.S. will have to resort to Ebay to get it, but I think Nokia made a wise choice. The truth of the matter is that if it’s not running Android the carriers aren’t going to give it a fighting chance anyway. Hopefully, Nokia and Microsoft can get some buzz around Windows Phone so when the Nokia Windows Phone’s are released, people will take notice.
