Developers Might be Getting Their Hands on New Mango Build (UPDATE:MANGO UPDATE NOW AVAILABLE)
July 27, 2011 No CommentsMicrosoft recently released Mango build 7720 to manufacturers while developers have build 7661. It’s only to be expected that developers hope to get their hands on an updated version of Mango, and that’s just what might happen.
When Cliff Simpkins, Senior Product Manager for Windows Phone 7 was asked via Twitter about developers getting an updated Mango beta, Simpkins responded “Give me a day to get an official answer for folks :)”. He was also combing the comments of the Windows Phone blog yesterday because there he addressed the same question, “We’re working to get devs an updated build soon. Stay tuned to the dev blog.”.
If all this isn’t enough to make you think that devs getting a new build of Mango will happen, we direct you to a tweet by the Windows Phone Dev Podcast.
Looks like devs have something to look forward to. I think it’s pretty safe to say that devs will get an updated Mango beta, however it obviously won’t be the final version. No matter how you spin it 7712 is better than 7661.
UPDATE: A post just went up on the Windows Phone Developer Blog letting us know that the update is available now. With the release of the Windows Phone SDK 7.1, you will be allowed to update your phone to Mango build 7712. Mango build 7712 is not the RTM build but it is better than 7661 which is what devs have now.
