Microsoft no Longer Interested in Hulu?

July 20, 2011 No Comments

In an unfortunate turn of events Bloomberg is reporting that Microsoft has dropped out of the bidding for Hulu.

Microsoft currently has a partnership with Hulu where they offer a paid subscription to through Xbox Live. The acquisition of Hulu would probably have meant that Microsoft would find more ways to integrate it into services they currently offer such as Windows Phone.

There are supposedly many companies in talks with Hulu to negotiate an offer, including Yahoo, Google, AT&T and many others. Yahoo is reportedly willng to pay $2 billion dollars for the company.

Microsoft still has not confirmed that they are bowing out, but according to Bloomberg’s source it wouldn’t exactly be a surprising turn of events if Microsoft decided to re-enter the race.

What a shame! I was really looking forward to the convenience of having Hulu compliment Netflix on my Windows Phone.
