Microsoft Registers New Domains that Lead to Sony Ericsson WP7 SpeculationJuly 15, 2011 No Comments
Microsoft is constantly under a microscope with people watching every move the company makes. In the latest news, the Neogaf forum community discovered that Microsoft has registered the domains microsoft-sony.com and sony-microsoft.com. At the moment the domains redirect to Bing so no answers there. Both domains were registered to Microsoft through Corporation Service Company (CSC), a corporate identity protection firm.
Of course this could mean many things as both companies have many different ventures. However, it’s kind of hard not to wonder if this might mean that the plans for Sony Ericsson to manufacture Windows Phones have been resurrected. At the Mobile World Congress 2010, Sony Ericsson was announced as a launch partner. A deal that never came to fruition.
Photos of a Windows Phone Sony Ericsson device were leaked in March. The device featured a 4″ screen and QWERTY slideout keyboard. There has also been some beautiful concept shots of a WP7 Sony Ericcson called Xperia Leon.
All we can do is wait and see what this means. The idea of a Sony Ericsson Windows Phone would mean more exposure for Windows Phone and I am all for that. If they were to release a phone like the one shown in the concept art more people would definitely take notice.Tags: csc, Microsoft, mobile world congress, neogaf, Sony, Sony Ericsson, windows phone 7, WP7, xperia leonNews
