New HTML5 Speed Test, The Battle Continues

July 13, 2011 No Comments

If you have been following along on the happenings of Windows Phone for a while then you know that at Mix11 Joe Belfiore showcased the difference in browser speed working at tht time with the latest Mango build for Windows Phone 7, an iPhone 4 and an Android device.  The video clocked the iPhone speed at 2 FPS , the Android at 11 FPS, and the Windows Phone at 23 FPS. Obviously this did not go over well with Apple who responded with an iOS 5 beta clocking in at 31 FPS.

In what we can assume will turn into a never ending battle of speed, Microsoft once again hit Apple with a one- two punch.  At a demo at the WPC 11, Microsoft again put the popular OS’s through the ringer to see which of these runs best. This tiem around the Windows Phone Mandgo device was running at 50 FPS against the iPhone 4 running at 14 FPS but the kicker is that the iPhone 4 was flashed with the latest beta 3 of iOS5.

I always find this kind of competition entertaining. You know that they both are going to continue to beat the other for quite some time. All we can do as consumers is sit back and enjoy the ride because in the end it’s us who will benefit from this through faster performing devices.
