Commbank Hits The Windows Phone Marketplace

July 12, 2011 4 Comments

The latest official app to hit the Wp7 marketplace is  Commonwealth Bank app “CommBank”. It is a nice little banking application except for the fact that all the actual banking has to go through your web browser. I personally avoid applications that just link to a website. For me it just  the whole user experience. In any case it is out and you can download it for free on the marketplace by following the link below,

Australia only

Actually I prefer the behaviour to just link to their mobile website.  The mobile website is really good, fast, touch friendly, etc (i atually not prefer it over their desktop browser site), it works just as well as any native app.

Also, personally I don’t trust any app other than the native browser to enter my banking credentials, I wish more banking apps would follow this lead.  Otherwise how could users be sure the app is official and isn’t syphoning or storing credentials?

That’s a good point…  But what about embedding the browser into the app for specific transactions? I just think that the whole link thing just cheapens the whole experience….
