AT&T Testing Update for Samsung Focus v1.4

July 8, 2011 No Comments

In a quick and to the point post on the Windows Phone Blog, Eric Hautala, Microsoft’s GM of Customer Experience Engineering posted that updates for the Samsung Focus v1.4 were undergoing testing by AT&T.

The issue with the Focus is that due to high demand Samsung had to use a different memory module for some models, which is now causing conflict with the update.

To accommodate high demand for the Focus last year, two separate sources of flash memory components were required during manufacturing. Focus models are identical in all other ways. Most Focus owners are receiving our updates. But some customers with handsets containing the alternative memory component aren’t. We’re now working closely with Samsung and AT&T to test and deliver an
update for this group. As soon as I have more specifics, I’ll let you know.

This update issue is really putting a damper on things for many people. I don’t know how many times I have seen people commenting that they have the invitation to get Mango but can’t due to the fact that you have to have previous updates first. Hopefully they get the update out quick.
