Compal to Manufacture Windows Phones

Compal Electronics, Inc. has signed a licensing agreement with Microsoft for the use of Windows Phone 7. Awhile back at Microsoft’s Mango event, Microsoft announces 7 companies that signed on the produce Mango flavored Windows Phone 7 devices.

  • LG
  • Acer
  • Fujitsu
  • ZTE

All brand vendors

Compal has actually signed on to produce Windows Phones for vendors and have already received orders from the likes of Nokia and Acer. With shipments for Nokia to begin fourth quarter 2011, according to industry sources. Compal released the following statement on their licensing agreement with Microsoft.

“Compal will build up a foundation based on the WP7 platform thatwill enable it to shorten time to market for customized smartphones whileexpanding the pool of Windows Phone-based clients, Chen commented.”

All this talk just equals more handsets to choose from which is always a good thing.
