ChevronWP7 Labs: Microsoft Approved Windows Phone Unlocking

June 19, 2011 No Comments

Months ago, a homebrew team were the first to jailbreak Windows Phone 7. The Chevron Team built a tool which gave developers the ability to sideload applications at no cost. Instead of going the typical big business route, Microsoft invited the group over to headquarters in Washington and promised them that they would work something out with the homebrew scene.

Fast Forward to this weekend where the Chevron team just announced that they will be again providing a service to unlock your Windows Phone. This time with Microsoft’s permission and a small fee. It is good to see that Microsoft stuck to its word and that they are allowing a homebrew community on their Windows Phone devices.

The service itself is said to be coming soon.
