Microsoft Brings Mango Feature to iPhone

June 12, 2011 1 Comment

We have seen a lot of cool features that will be coming to Windows Phone 7 in the Fall with the Mango update. Unfortunately, Microsoft has already began implementing some of these features on other platforms.

One such feature is an enhancement to Bing where you will be able to perform a search and then Bing will automatically compile a list of apps that are in your phone pertaining to your search. For instance, if you search for a specific movie on Bing you will receive suggestions for apps such as Fandango and IMDB. Some apps will even automatically perform the same search within the app. To clarify, you will be directed to the page within your app that most pertains to your Bing search.

I know that Bing is its own service and has to be promoted, even if it’s within competing OS’s, but why would you make dinstinctive features for your OS and then hand that same technology over to the competition. I don’t get it, but it does make me hope that they have more in store to differentiate the Mango Bing from other OS’s.
