Microsoft Sponsoring Windows Phone App-a-thon for Students

Microsoft has been working diligently on expanding the Marketplace. They have created numerous contests and incentives encouraging the development of applications.

Their newest contest is is called the Windows Phone Student App-a-thon. The incentives for this contest are as follows:

  • The first 1,000 students to publish an application will receive a copy of Halo Reach, Fable 3, Dance Central, Kinect Joy Ride, or Kinect Sports for the Xbox 360
  • The student who publishes and enters the most apps will receive $5,000 or an equivalent prize package
  • The 3 students who submit the 2nd, 3rd and 4th most apps will each receive $1,000.
