Xbox 360 Gets Updated: Adds PayPal Purchases – Windows Phones Next?

May 20, 2011 2 Comments

Xbox Live’s Major Nelson has announced Paypal integration with Xbox 360 which allows players to actually make purchases on their consoles using Paypal. This is a very smart new feature since not everyone has access to a credit card or just doesn’t want to bother with putting that kind of information on a console (*cough* PSN).

I am happy to announce that, as a part of a new Xbox 360 System Update, we’re expanding our integration with PayPal to allow U.S. and international Xbox LIVE users to make purchases on their Xbox 360 consoles with their PayPal accounts.* Once you’ve linked your PayPal account to your Xbox LIVE account on Xbox.com, you’ll be off and running to use it as a billing option, allowing you to buy content such as Microsoft Points, Xbox LIVE Gold subscriptions and Games on Demand titles.

Hopefully this will also be an added feature to Windows Phone when the Mango update rolls around. Can you even begin to imagine how app sales would increase if users could pay through paypal? This would be a pretty sweet deal and if its already on Xbox consoles then there might be a strong possibility.
