President of HTC EU Optimistic About Microsoft/Nokia Partnership

May 19, 2011 1 Comment

The President of HTC in Europe, Florian Seiche took some time to weigh in on the Microsoft/Nokia partnership and I am happy to say that he only had good things to say.

Obviously he is thinking of Nokia as a boost in sales for Windows Phone 7 which in turn will help sell WP7 HTC handsets as well. HTC should benefit from Nokia’s deal to start using Microsoft’s software in its smartphones as this will boost Windows’ share of the smartphone market, Seiche said.

He also took the time to reassure people that the partnership isn’t deterring HTC from manufacturing phones for Windows Phone 7. It will not change our commitment to Microsoft,” he said. “With a new player entering, it should actually help to elevate the relevance of that platform … we actually feel that we should be able to benefit.”

We all know that a lot is riding on this partnership and if someone who is already invested has such a good outlook on things then I don’t think it’s jumping the gun to expect really great things.
