Microsoft Set to Buy Skype For $8.5 Billion

May 10, 2011 No Comments

Microsoft is set to purchase Skype for $8.5 Billion dollars, as it seems as already a done deal. This is HUGE news, as it is one of Microsoft’s biggest purchases ever. Not really for us Windows Phone 7 users though, as we already were going to see a Skype app later this year.

I think down the line though the deal will come to benefit us Windows Phone users, especially as a competitor to FaceTime (if that’s the route Microsoft wants to take). Don’t think this deal had anything to do with that though. This purchase was 100% geared by making sure no one else made the purchase, especially Google.

This deal is supposedly almost complete and only time will tell what it will mean for Microsoft and Windows Phone.
