‘Walshed’ Phones Not Updating But May Have a Fix on the WayMay 4, 2011 No Comments
Despite some claims that people who have installed the NoDo update using the unofficial update tool by Chris Walsh saying that they successfully installed the latest update from Microsoft (security update), the Windows Phone Blog is saying that ‘Walshed’ devices in fact will not update past build 7390. Brandon Watson wrote on the Windows Phone Blog, “Phones updated via the unsupported method do not contain an official image and cannot be updated further at this time. Due to scheduling of engineering resources, we did not anticipate having to undue the changes made to phones by these unsupported methods. While we are not ruling out having a fix in the future, for now there is no fix.” Those who used the unofficial method will receive error code 80180048 when attempting to install an update on your phone from the Zune software.
With that said, fear not because Chris Walsh has actually been working on a solution. The ChevronWP7 team recently tweeted that a fix was actually being validated by Microsoft. Looks like you won’t have to worry about not being to update in the Fall when Mango comes out. #greatnews!Tags: chris walsh, Microsoft, Twitter, update wp7, walshed phones, windows phone 7, windows phone blog, ZuneNews
