App Playing Field Leveling Out Against iPhone

May 3, 2011 No Comments

We all know that lots of people choose to buy a smartphone because they have done a good job of marketing the fact that their app store has an abundance of apps. PCWorld did an analysis of all the popular OS markets to figure out what it really means to have that many apps, and their conclusion is that it means NOTHING!

At this point, most people know what apps they use the most on their smartphone. The PCworld analysis came to the conclusion that when considering the top 35 IPhone apps, many OS’s are faring almost as well as IOS. At present, Android is lacking only three of the popular IPhone apps and coming in third is Windows Phone 7 which is only missing eight.

So what does this all mean? Well to keep it simple, Apple has had four years to fill up their app store. Windows Phone 7 is is the newest OS and yet within only half a year have brought almost all of the top downloaded apps on Iphone to WP7. Just imagine what the next six months holds for our Marketplace.

With most of IPhone’s top apps going multiplatform, how will they market IPhone now? IPhone has an app for that? WP7 also has an app for that!
