WP7 Places 3rd In Developer Interest In Latest Survey

April 26, 2011 No Comments

Appcelerator and IDC just put out their latest quarterly numbers regarding Windows Phone interest in the developer community. WP7 placed 3rd behind IOS and Android but just surpassed Blackberry.

They also charted some specifics about what concerns developers have regarding the Windows Phone plaftform.

You will see these particular charts all over the internet today but let me explain why they don’t matter as much to me. The survey was done within the Appcelerator community.  2,700 Appcelerator developers took part in the survey regarding their interest in developing for different mobile platforms. You cannot gauge the interest within the developer community through just one channel. Especially a channel that in my view is mostly used for IOS and Android development to begin with.

There is tons of excitement surrounding the WP7 platform especially after all the news coming from MIX11. The thought of  ‘it’s too late for Windows Phone’  is ridiculous. The same thing was said about the Xbox and we all know how that turned out.  🙂
