Microsoft Store Plans Paused

April 11, 2011 No Comments

Microsoft has had big plans for opening Microsoft stores nationwide to compete with Apple stores. Microsoft has only managed to open eight of these stores within the last year and a half.

The plan was to either match or surpass the number of Apple stores, sadly that plan is on hold for the time being. At the moment the Microsoft stores that have already opened aren’t  making much profit. The reason for that being that there are already many other places to purchase Microsoft products whereas Apples products aren’t as widely available fueling sales at the stores. That coupled with the expenses of having an unprofitable store equals the one thing that makes sense, halting plans to open more stores for the time being.

While at the moment the plans for the stores are in limbo, I do believe that Microsoft will find a way to turn this around. Microsoft is a company that perseveres. Once the stores gain traction which I believe they will, I am sure the plans for the rest of the stores will be put back in motion. I look forward to one here on the east coast.
