LG Plans on Doubling US Marketshare With ‘Superphones’

March 26, 2011 No Comments

LG smartphones are nice but in a lot of cases they don’t hold a candle to their competitors. LG has big plans to not only gain traction with their smartphones but to double their smartphone martketshare in the US. Spearheading their plan is the so called superphone, which is described by LG as smartphones that have screens pf at least 4 inches, a processor of at least 1GHZ and a lot of embedded memory. While the plan isn’t to only produce superphones  the superphones will be the main focus in their marketing strategy.

Superphone is an interesting choice of branding. I think that this strategy might be a little too risky. When you call something super, people expect a LOT. If these so called superphones fail to impress there is no telling what effect that will have on LG. However if LG succeds there is no telling what cool new phones and features it could lead to.
