March 23, 2011 No Comments

We have been on the rumor trial on this one for awhile. Finally we get official word that we were right on track (the 2nd time anyway). Telstra will be launching the HTC HD7 in Australia on March 29th. I was hoping they would get the HD7s which is the exact same thing but with a nicer screen but no such luck…

Press Release:
Telstra today joined with HTC Corporation and Microsoft to launch the HTC HD7 smartphone – the latest Windows Phone 7 to arrive in Australia, which will be available from March 29 exclusively on the Telstra Next G® network.
The HTC HD7 embodies a stand‐out design with a large 4.3” high-resolution screen and flipout kickstand for an epic viewing experience. The handset is perfect for customers looking for the ultimate multimedia experience, from interactive gaming to the 720p HD camcorder that allows high definition capture and playback. The HTC HD7 has a simple, easy to use interface and access to a range of fun and useful applications that all perform brilliantly on the large screen.
“We are pleased to announce the HTC HD7 will be available exclusively on the Telstra Next G® Network in March,” said Ben Hodgson, Country Manager, HTC Australia and New Zealand. “HTC has shown strong leadership in developing Windows® based devices in the past, illustrating our ability to be first-to-market. The HTC HD7 continues along this tradition with its focus on providing the ultimate multimedia experience coupled with a nice simple user interface and access to a broad range of useful applications.”
“HTC HD7 arrives at a time when Aussies are increasingly turning to their smartphones for entertainment and gaming,” said Andrew Volard, Director, Telstra Mobility Products. “They’re going to love the HTC HD7’s huge screen for playing video or streaming YouTube®. Its snappy performance and access to a growing catalogue of Xbox LIVE® games also makes a really exciting games platform. And perhaps most importantly for our customers, the HTC HD7 is really simple to use with the Windows® Phone 7 operating system making navigation, composing email and accessing information incredibly easy.”
Sheau-Lan Reed, director, Mobile Communications Business, Microsoft Australia, added: “The high spec features and design of the HTC HD7 not only makes it the ultimate device for users to enjoy rich media and entertainment content, it also enables users to really benefit from the business productivity experiences of Windows Phone 7, including a fully integrated Microsoft Exchange email and calendar through the Office Hub. With over 10,000 apps now within Marketplace and an average of 100 new titles being added every day we have partnered with HTC and Telstra to deliver a fantastic new device that connects users to rich content, entertainment and information wherever they are.”
