Microsoft Responds to Zune Rumors But Still Say Nothing

March 16, 2011 No Comments

When rumors began circulating that Microsoft was going to halt production of the Zune hardware, I was saddened. My household has been home to three different Zunes and all are still in working condition, products nowadays just don’t last very long and I have been more than satisfied with Zune. Senior Business Development Manager for Zune, Dave Mclauchlan made a statement in the anythingbutipodforums regarding the supposed death of Zune.

ALL consumer electronics products have a lifespan, and the Zune HD is 18mo old. We were completely frank about this year’s Zune hardware being the WP7 phones, and we continue to both sell and fully support the Zune HD line of products. And as I’ve promised – we continue to bring new apps and games to the platform. More of those are in the works, I promise you.

All he said was that they are still working on apps for the Zune HD. No where in his statement did I see a mention of whether or not we will be seeing new Zune hardware that isn’t Windows Phone 7. I really wish they would stop dancing around the subject and just tell us already.
