MediaRoom 2.0 on Windows Phone 7?

January 21, 2011 No Comments

This morning Mary Jo Foley from ZDnet published the monthly Microsoft Code-Tracker. The highlight of this month's report? "Rome" a codename for a project to enable MediaRoom on phones.

In December, I noted that Microsoft codename Thunderbay is the companys internal name for its three-year, three-screens-and-a-cloud plan for its Entertainment and Devices unit. One leg of the Thunderbay stool seems to be Mediaroom. At the Consumer Electronics Show, Microsoft execs were demonstrating how Microsoft envisions users being able to deploy Mediaroom 2.0 on Xbox 360s, as well as to stream content on Windows PCs . Yet another part of the plan seems to be enabling Mediaroom content on phones (a k a, Rome). (An interesting Mediaroom-related aside: Supposedly Roz Ho, the former Corporate Vice President in charge of the integration of Danger and the ill-fated Kin phone launch, is now working on Mediaroom, according to my tipsters.)

I havent heard any word of timing for Rome, but I did notice that Microsoft apparently has been

working on it since 2010.

I am looking for as much intergration between My phone and my Xbox. I can't wait to hear more news on the subject…
