WordPress App Review

I was so happy when the WordPress app was available in the marketplace. Finally the ultimate blogging tool has come to my phone. It has taken me awhile to review because there is alot to it. How it handles pages, posts, comments etc. Well that part I guess is easy, it handles all of that exceptionally well. Where does it fall short? The only place that it shouldn't, the actual blogging.

[smartads]

Can you blog from Windows Phone 7 now that WordPress is here? YES!! Will you want to is another story. Everything is here – posts, pages, comments, stat, etc. and I find everything beautifully done. It uses the metro UI amazingly well on the overview as soon as you pick which blog to log into. Everything is there and you can press on 'refresh' to get all the latest data (I do wish that happened automatically though).

Now comes the criticism, actually trying to write or edit a post is tough on this app. Instead of continuing with the beautiful metro UI. They lock you onto this one screen for posting. They try to fit some text options, the text box, the category list and the publish option (which i still don't get because everything ends up publishing anyway) into one screen. Worse of all there is no landscape mode! This app is very close to being a 5 star app. If they would just spread the posting into separate swipable pages using WP7's UI. It would make posting much easier and a very enjoyable experience.

With that said, I love WordPress and I hope they update this app soon. On a side note, If you experience a problem loading up your posts the first time logging in. Check your WordPress installation online. If you can't see your dashboard either on your back-end. try upgrading to PHP5!!
