Paramount launches exclusive School of Rock App (9 more to follow)

December 14, 2010 No Comments

Microsoft is starting to throw its weight around in the fight for mobile market-share vs Apple and Google. Paramount announced earlier today that they launched the movie School of Rock (starring Jack Black) as an Application exclusive to Windows Phone 7. They also let everyone know that 9 more will follow, including the Ben Stiller classic “Zoolander,” the action film “GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra” , and “Waiting for Superman”.

The Application itself has plenty of cool features.

  • You can obviously watch the movie
  • Watch it with pop-up facts (scene it! mode)
  • Pause to learn about the movie and actors
  • Special features
  • Create your own clips of the movie

This is definitely a great direction to be going. I am very excited about the possibilities especially if more studios join in the fun. My one only gripe is that I wish you could download a “Paramount” app for free and purchase movies for it. Instead of having 10 different “apps”.

School of Rock: Enhanced – Available now from the marketplace for $9.99
