Indie Dev Highlight: InfinitiesLoop (Minecrafter & Blue Screen)

December 6, 2010 No Comments

Here at WP7Connect, we believe that indie applications play a  huge part in making a mobile OS successful. We will be taking a closer look into independent developers and their applications.

We have InfinitiesLoop here, who has right now 2 applications available on the marketplace. One is a hilarious application that makes your new phone look like it has been hit with the blue screen of death. Admittedly I have tricked a couple of people into thinking my phone had suddenly bricked.

The other is Minecrafter, a virtual guide to the popular game Minecraft. Lets take a closer look at this app and the developer.

  • Is this your first App for a mobile device?
    Yes.
  • Why minecraft?
Just happened to be the game holding my interest at the time, and I wasn’t too happy with any of the existing Minecraft apps for other phones. I knew I could do better with WP7.
  • What is minecrafter?
It’s a companion tool for the game Minecraft. You can look-up any recipe, and it comes with some guides to help you understand some of the game’s more subtle features.

  • How long did development take?
A few weeks of off and on development in my spare time.
  • It has received good feedback on the marketplace so far. Any future updates?
I’ve got 1 rating for 4 stars. It really takes a lot of downloads to get a lot of ratings since most people don’t bother, and this is a very niche group of people. I have an update planned shortly that will add some new guides.

  • Is this for hardcore minecraft players or can it also help beginners get started?
I’d say its more for beginners. There is a lot to the game, and you don’t realize all of the things you can build since there’s really no in-game help. The app is a wonderful way to browse what the game has in store for you, and serve as a reference if you forget something. But once you’ve been into for a while, you tend to memorize it.
  • Will we see any new Apps from you in the future?
I’ve one other toy app called “Blue Screen”. I don’t have any more apps planned, but writing apps for WP7 is a lot of fun. I will definitely write one again when the opportunity arises.
